Bob Hope received massages every day and lived to be a hundred. Anything we do regularly becomes a way of life, a practice. You choose what works for you based on your needs and your means. We can offer various treatment packages. Most of our clients have been regulars for years.
Lymphatic drainage has been the modality we have focused on because of its effectiveness, uniqueness and the need for it in this country. But, we use many other approaches for therapeutic as well as comforting purposes. Deep tissue, neuromuscular and trigger point therapies are used for mostly therapeutic reasons, while reflexology, Swedish massage, hot stone and energy work approaches are generally used for comfort and relaxation. All are therapeutic in their own ways and all eventually lead to relaxation. We choose which to use based on your needs.
SPORTS INJURIES AND PREVENTION
Lymphatic drainage is one of the most powerful approaches to sports training injuries and their prevention. Whether its simple soreness from lactic acid buildup, to bruises, sprains and strains, or to serious sports related injuries, lymphatic drainage helps dramatically. If you run marathons, there is nothing better immediately after the event because of the flushing effect of lymph drainage on tissues that have been pushed to the limit. Recovery time is drastically reduced. If you do regular activities that create stiffness and/or pain, like running, biking, playing tennis, etc., lymphatic drainage will minimize any chronic symptoms those activities might create. The list of treatment possibilities for various activities is much too long to list. Tell us about your situation and we’ll tell you how and why our work will help.
CUSTOMIZED APPROACHES FOR ALL CONDITIONS
We take into account an individual’s specific needs and tailor our use of modalities in a way that they can work most synergistically. We always start with a plan of action. We have our specialties, but use them flexibly, modifying our approach based on a person’s responses. Our many years of experience is one of our strongest assets.
We feel rejuvenated when our cells are receiving the nutrients they need, including the oxygen that is critical to being energized. But, even more importantly, we require deep rest and recuperation from the stresses of everyday life. Lymphatic drainage is powerfully relaxing because it works on our para-sympathetic nervous system. Stress keeps us in sympathetic nervous system state of constant readiness. It is our “security system”, but our batteries run down if we can’t relax. Then we feel drained even after we awaken. Lymphatic drainage dramatically rejuvenates on several levels.
IMPROVED IMMUNE SYSTEM
Our lymphatic system is part of our immune system. Not only do the cells we use to protect us from viral and bacterial intrusions use the lymphatic system to travel to the site of any threat to our health, but the relaxed state that is necessary for proper immune function is also the state at which the lymphatic system operates most vigorously. This is why chronic stress weakens our immunity and why the gentle, rhythmic movements involved in lymph drainage are so effective. Lymphatic drainage counteracts stress.
CHRONIC SWELLING AND PAIN
Any condition with an “itis” as part of its name, such as tendonitis, sinusitis, arthritis, etc, involves varying degrees of swelling and pain that usually occur on an invisible, cellular level. Because of its focus on decongestion and dispersal of fluids and their contents, lymphatic drainage is ideal for treating chronic conditions involving swelling and pain.
PRE AND POST SURGICAL THERAPY
Surgeries are traumatic to our body to varying degrees. Lymphatic drainage dramatically minimizes that trauma and aids recuperation. Joint replacements and other orthopedic surgeries can be both painful and often take a long time to heal. The pain and discomfort involved with immobilization during the healing process are reduced, and in many cases halved. Even plastic surgery which does not involve joints, is facilitated by the use of lymphatic drainage to prepare the tissue for the surgery and then to minimize scarring and pain afterward. Scarring is one of the most critical after effects of surgery because it impedes nutritional flow to our cells and waste disposal from them. Lymphatic drainage excels at minimizing scarring and making it pliable.
COMPLEX DECONGESTIVE THERAPY
Our ability to remove toxins and to supply our cells with nutrients can be impeded by a sluggish lymphatic system. On the surface, no problems are noticed. But, on a cellular level edema occurs, cellular waste builds up and blocks the flow of oxygen and the nutrients our cells need in order to function optimally. Symptoms can range from simple sluggishness, to environmental sensitivities (aggravated allergic states), to mood swings due to obstruction of hormonal flow. Lymphatic drainage techniques, synergistically coupled with hydration, aromatherapy, and many other approaches, decongest our tissues for optimal health.
Swelling caused by obstruction or removal of lymph nodes is dramatically reduced through the application of lymphatic drainage techniques. Gentle, repetitive, manual movements stimulate the body’s functional lymphatic system and circumvent any obstructions. Lymphatic drainage has been extremely successful at treating lymphedema since the 1920’s, but is relatively new to the United States. Darek Zurawksi was the first local practitioner certified and has specialized in this modality for two decades.
I was 49 when I got breast cancer. Most of my lymp nodes were removed from my left arm. I soon experienced swelling in my arm going into my hand-with pain. Darek has been treating me for several years. I learned about manual lymph drainage thru Evanston hospital/ Evanston Illinois. They gave me Darek’s name. I feel very lucky to have someone to help me until this life long problem.

As a surgeon, I consider manual lymphatic drainage to be an integral and essential part of my patient’s post-operative care. There is no more efficacious way to re-establish the lymph flow and blood supply, while simultaneously preventing fibrosis than manual lymphatic drainage. I recommend this treatment after cosmetic and reconstructive surgical procedures, traumatic injuries and for patients with chronic conditions like lymph edema.
Vodder trained therapist undergo rigorous training to learn the skills of manual lymphatic drainage massage. Darek Zurawski is uniquely talented as a therapist of manual lymphatic therapy. He brings an energy and skill to his work that is rarely found . I have seen Darek routinely obtain results for patients with acute and chronic conditions, even when other modalities and therapies have failed.
I cannot recommend Darek Zurawski and his Lymphatic Therapy center more highly. It is with complete confidence that I entrust my patients to his care to assist in their speedy recovery and healing.

I highly recommend Darek Zurawski!!!
We first met 17 years ago when Lymphedema occurred in my arm 16 years after surgery. It was a time when doctors in my area didn’t know how to handle, diagnose or treat it. After an extensive search I was given Darek’s name. He has been patient, knowledgeable, caring and informative in years since Lymphedema is now at a maintenance stage for me, due to Darek’s care and education. Lymphedema is a lifetime… as flare-ups occur I have been fortunate to have Darek Zurawski to keep it from getting worse.
His knowledge of MLD has also helped me prevent sinus infections which had become chronic at one time.MLD is useful after surgery to reduce swelling and enhance healing. One year I had a pulled muscle in my back – after couple of sessions with MLD the swelling and pain had sustained.
My recommendation for him comes at the highest level… Julie B.
The result has been healthy, loyal clients who have built our business almost solely through personal recommendations based on their positive experiences.
